Thesis advisor: David Ginty
Rotation lab(s): Chenghua Gu, Clifford Woolf, Isaac Chiu
For me, home is: Kazakhstan
Undergraduate degree(s): BS Biological Sciences
Research experience before PiN: I've been mostly involved in Cell/Molecular Biology research in the labs of Emil Martin at UTHealth and Ivan Vorobyev at Nazarbayev University (my home institution). I also spend a summer here at HMS with David Ginty working on a somatosensory development project.
Current research interests: I'm interested in the function of somatosensory system. My project in particular explores the function of a type of neuron in the skin called slowly adapting low threshold mechanoreceptor. I'm curious about its role in the sense of touch and the mechanisms allowing it to perform that role.
Interests outside lab / favorite hangouts: At home, I like taking care of houseplants, baking and cooking with my roommates or by myself. Outside, I like walking around Boston's parks and beautiful neighborhoods. I'm also always happy to go on a hike or just hang out in nature.
