**For me, home is:** Santa Tecla, La Libertad, El Salvador

**Prior degree(s):** B.A. in Neuroscience, Amherst College

**Research experience before PiN:** Investigated the role of the exocyst complex in the development and function of *Drosophila* NMJs with John P. Roche, and identified functions of a novel mechanosensitive protein in neurons and glia with Sally Kim as an undergrad at Amherst College. During my summers and after graduation, I worked in the laboratory of Alex Kolodkin at JHU, studying the molecular mechanisms of laminar-specific axon branching and guidance in the developing cortex.

**Current research interests:** I’m interested in cancer neuroscience! Especially in neuron-tumor synapse formation. I’m also interested in (molecular and cellular) developmental neuro and synaptic biology.

**Interests outside lab:** Basketball, chess, traveling, weightlifting, nature
