PiN G3 Ya'el Courtney and her thesis advisor, [Maria Lehtinen](/people/maria-kristiina-lehtinen), are among 50 student-advisor pairs to receive the Howard Hughes Medical Institute [2021 Gilliam Fellowship](https://www.hhmi.org/news/mentoring-and-inclusion-are-top-priority-for-50-new-gilliam-fellows-and-their-advisers) as part of a program to advance diversity and inclusion in science.
